Milan, the most fashionable city in Italy 🤍
Just before Christmas, we went 2 days in Milan. It was a great time, because there were Christmas decorations everywhere and the luxury store windows were very well decorated. We found 2 days in Milan sufficient for what we wanted to do, but if you want to visit museums and so on, I recommend 1 or 2 more days. It all depends on what you want to do.
What to do in Milan? 🧐
1 | Emmanuel Vittorio Galleria and Piazza Del Duomo
The must-see in Milano are of course walking into the famous Emmanuel Vittorio Galleria, which is Italy’s oldest active shopping mall and a major landmark of Milan. Housed within a four-story double arcade in the center of town. The Emmanuel Vittorio Galleria makes me also think about the Umberto Galleria in Naples.

The Christmas decorations were very beautiful. Next to the Galleria, there is the Piazza Del Duomo, which is the main square in Milan.
2 | Milan Cathedral
We visited the Milan Cathedral with access to the rooftop of the cathedral. From here, we had a beautiful view over the square. Book your tour below.
3 | Shopping in Milan – Golden Triangle
Milan is well known as the world’s fashion capital. You can’t visit the world’s fashion capital and not at least window-shop. The best place to go is the so-called Golden Triangle, an area that encompasses the Via della Spiga, the Via Sant’Andrea and the Via Montenapoleone.
Montenapoleone street is one of the most expensive streets of Milan with all the luxury boutiques. The windows decorations are beautiful during Christmas.
After window shopping in the boutiques of the biggest luxury brands, it is time to take a look at more affordable stores, where most visitors do their shopping.
If you want to do some shopping, you have different options. You can either shop in the ‘via Torino street‘, the ‘Corso Vittorio Emanuele II‘ or in the ‘Corso di Porta Ticinese‘.
4 | Navilgio Grande district
Another stop is the Navilgio Grande district, where you can enjoy the typical Italian ‘aperitivo’ around the canal. There are a lot of bars and restaurants, that’s why we had lunch in that area.
5 | Sforzesco Castle & Parco Sempione
Another important place in Milan is the Sforzesco Castle & Parco Sempione. Today, it houses various museums and numerous important artworks and relics, but it is also nice to wander through its courtyards and drink in the sense of history.
After you are done exploring the castle, walk out the back gate and straight into Parco Sempione, Milan’s “green lung” and one of the most beautiful parks in the city.
6 | Eataly market in Milan
Visit Eataly Smeraldo, a place to discover the greatest Italian biodiversity and food culture. Eataly is also one of the largest markets in Milan, collecting the best products from every Italian region. Eataly has several restaurants that offer a great variety of menus, featuring special courses made with the best seasonal and local products. If you want to bring some typical food or drinks, you are at the right place!

- We also had lunch at Officina 12 in Navigli district, quite expensive but tasty!
